10 - 25 SEPTEMBER
HIGH OCTANE, BLACK-COMEDY ABOUT POWER, BETRAYAL AND SUCCESS
In a fly-by-night office in Chicago, four desperate real estate agents are in the final days of a high stakes sales competition. The rules are simple: the winner gets a new Cadillac, second place a set of steak knives and the rest are f**k*d. As the stakes rise, everything is for sale and a price must be paid.
Nearly forty years after David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross sensationally burst onto the stages of the world, becoming an instant cult classic, it remains a devastating and hilarious, modern-day morality tale about a burnt-out American dream and the business of capitalism.
Premiering in 1983 at London’s National Theatre, Glengarry won the Olivier Award for Best Play. The following year it opened on Broadway receiving the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, NY Drama Critics’ Award plus numerous Tony Award nominations. In 1992 the play was adapted by Mamet into an Academy Award nominated film.
Glengarry Glen Ross is supported by Arts SA, Australian Cultural Fund and Creative Partnerships Australia.
